snowbird portraits

this series is something i’ve been wanting to do for a long time.  if you ever looked through my photographs, you’ll notice they are all similar in the way i see light and how i process my photographs to have a clean, airy, timeless look.  the thing is, the images i’m drawn too, that speak to me, are always kind of dark and dreary.  my dear friend keira who is always soul searching as an artist, to whom i admire very much, invited me to collaborate for a day to shoot only for ourselves.  as i was thinking about what i wanted to do, i didn’t want to go into it with too many pre-conceived ideas because i knew i would be disappointed if the shoot didn’t turn out exactly like i had envisioned.  i wanted to let it flow with only one idea in mind… to always shoot THROUGH something, whether it be something on my lens or through branches or mirrors.  this is the end result.  and yes i’m pleased.  thank you kiera, pricilla and nicole.

Anna - Kate! These are so interesting and stunning! I really love them. It's so interesting how sometimes the things you shoot don't always line up with what your taste is. Not that that's a bad thing, but it can create an interesting dynamic between creator and curator. I love the textures and colors in the locker pictures as well as the shadows in the one-piece shots, too.

Kelli Anderson - LOVE
